Popular Trade Target WR Calvin Ridley Has Been Suspended Indefinitely For Gambling On NFL Games
Calving Ridley, the Atlanta Falcons WR who was expected to be on top of many teams wish lists as a top trade target this offseason saw his value plummet after the NFL suspended him indefinitely for betting on NFL games.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the league is suspending the Atlanta Falcons receiver indefinitely, the entire 2022 season at minimum, for gambling on NFL games last season. Ridley shocked NFL fans when he announced he was stepping away from the Falcons during the 2021 season, having been granted a leave of absence due to mental health concerns.
Apparently he was involved in gambling on NFL games during that time period. It is not currently known if Ridley placed any wagers on the Falcons during this time. According to the NFL, no insider information was used, and no games were compromised. There is also no evidence that anyone in the Falcons organization was aware at this time.
According to Pelissero, Calvin Ridley may apply for reinstatement to the NFL no sooner than Feb. 15, 2023. Under the CBA, he may appeal the suspension within three days.
