NFL Considering Adding An 8th Playoff Team And A Neutral Site For AFC Title Game Following Bills-Bengals Cancellation
Regardless of what the NFL decides to do following the cancellation of the Buffalo Bills vs Cincinatti Bengals game, it is going to be unfair to somebody. The latest idea floating around could make the playoffs a lot more interesting though, especially for teams currently on the bubble.
The NFL is considering adding an eighth playoff team in both the AFC and NFC. This would eliminate the the first-round bye in both conferences if they choose to go that route. They are also kicking around the idea to hold the AFC Championship Game on a neutral site. According to Albert Breer, Indianapolis might be the site of the AFC Championship Game.
Idea the NFL is discussing with teams/has real traction: Seeding by win percentage, with the AFC title game at neutral site, if seeding b/w the two teams was affected by Bills/Bengals cancellation.
Indy floated as one potential site to clubs (NFL hasn't talked to Colts yet).
