Deflate Gate Part 2: Patriots and Chiefs Played with Under-Inflated Footballs During Last Weekends Game In Foxborough
During the first half of the New England Patriots-Kansas City Chiefs game at Gillette Stadium last Sunday, both special team units were using footballs that were under-inflated by two pounds, according to Mark Daniels of Mass Live.
Referees reportedly took the balls into the locker room and discovered they weighed 11 pounds per square inch instead of the NFL’s legal limit between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds.
The Patriots’ Chad Ryland and Chiefs’ Harrison Butler each missed field goal attempts in the first half.
Will this create a national emergency like the last time this happened during a Patriots game. Obviously the Patriots had nothing to gain here. Will the national media drag Patrick Mahomes name in the mud and accuse the Kansas City Chiefs of some nefarious acts to assure them a win over the Patriots? It seems doubtful, and just like the first Deflategate, it is likely much ado about nothing.
Call it Deflategate, Part II.
According to multiple sources, NFL officials didn't properly inflate the kicking balls at Gillette Stadium before Patriots matchup vs. the Chiefs.
